Madhuri Dixit

Madhuri Dixit is an acclaimed Indian actress, best known for her roles in the films Beta Saajan and Hum Aapke Haiin Koun..! The actress began her career in the late 1980s, and rose to popularity with her role in the Tezaab film, in which she was a part of the cast alongside an established actor Anil Kapoor. The next film she appeared in was Dil where she starred alongside Aamir. As a child her Mumbai-born dancer started developing her skills at a young age. While still a teenager she tried her hand at acting, but most of her early movies were unsuccessful. In the end, she was one of the top actresses from Indian film. Following her marriage, she took some time away from performing before returning. In recent times, she was in a major role in Gulaab Gang. The film focused on the struggles of women in India. Dixit has been nominated for 15 Filmfare Awards, out of which she took home eight. Padma Shri - the fourth most prestigious civilian award of India is awarded to Dixit. In addition, she is recognized for her charity work.
